About Mouse Islets

Mouse Islets is a rock pinnacle in DFO subarea 13-3 off Campbell River, sitting in mid-exposure water with depths running from 10 to 60 feet. The structure holds Chinook Salmon through their June to August peak and Coho Salmon across a long May to September window, with Lingcod concentrating in May and June and again from August to September. Anglers work the salmon by trolling anchovy, herring, spoons, and hootchies over the pinnacle, switching to mooching with cut-plug herring or jigging metal jigs when fish hold tight to the rock. Lingcod come off the same structure on metal jigs and leadhead jigs with swimbaits, or on whole herring and live greenling fished near the bottom. Rockfish, Pacific Cod, Pollock, and Sablefish round out the mix over the broken rock and steep edges of the pinnacle.
