About Ripple Rock

Ripple Rock is a rock pinnacle in DFO subarea 13-6 off Campbell River, British Columbia, rising through mid-exposure water with fishable structure between 60 and 180 feet. The pinnacle holds lingcod, which peak in May and June and again from August through September, alongside canary, copper, and China rockfish and Pacific cod that relate tightly to the rock. Chinook salmon move through from June to August and coho from May to September, working the currents that sweep the structure. Anglers target lingcod by jigging metal jigs, leadhead jigs with swimbaits, or bucktail jigs over the pinnacle, backing that up with whole herring, live greenling, or octopus on the bottom. Salmon are worked through the same water by trolling anchovy, herring, spoons, and hootchies for chinook and spoons, hootchies, and flashers for coho, with mooching cut-plug herring an option when fish hold deeper on the structure.
