Wren Islet sits off Campbell River within DFO subarea 13-3, a rock drop-off with mid-range exposure where the bottom falls away steeply from 330 to 1310 feet. Chinook Salmon peak here from June through August and Coho Salmon run from May into September, with both taken by trolling anchovy, herring, spoons, or hootchies along the edge of the structure. Lingcod hold on the rocky slope with peaks in May and June and again from August to September, responding to metal jigs, leadhead jigs with swimbaits, and bucktail jigs worked close to the bottom. Black Rockfish stack over the same rock through the May-to-September window and take metal jigs, leadhead jigs, and soft plastic swimbaits, while Copper Rockfish and Canary Rockfish share the drop-off. The sharp depth transition concentrates fish along the break, making the transition line the focus for both salmon trolling passes and jigging over the rock.
