Shields Point is an outer-exposed rock drop-off off Comox, British Columbia, where the bottom falls away through 260 to 660 feet. Chinook Salmon hold here from June through August and Coho move through from May into September, with trolling spoons, hootchies, and anchovy working the dominant approach for both. The rock structure supports a strong Lingcod season that peaks January through March and again May through September, best worked with metal jigs, swimbaits, and leadhead jigs dropped along the drop-off. Pacific Halibut run March through July over the deeper contours, taken on drift-jigged leadheads and swimbaits or bottom-fished whole herring and squid. Black Rockfish stack up June through August across the same rock, responding to jigged metal and soft plastic swimbaits, and Copper Rockfish, Quillback Rockfish, and Pacific Cod share the ground.
