Tralee Point sits off Comox in DFO subarea 14-9, an outer-exposed rocky drop-off where the bottom falls away through depths of 260 to 660 feet. The structure holds Chinook Salmon that peak from June through August and Coho Salmon that run from May into September, while Lingcod hold along the rock through the winter months and again from May to September. Chinook respond to trolling with anchovy, herring, spoons, or hootchies, with mooching cut-plug herring a reliable alternative over the deeper edges. Coho come to trolled hootchies and spoons or bait teasers tipped with anchovy behind flashers, and bucktailing works when fish sit near the surface. For Lingcod, drop metal jigs, swimbaits, or leadhead jigs onto the rock, or work whole herring and live greenling close to the bottom, with Canary Rockfish, Pacific Cod, and Splitnose Rockfish also holding across the drop-off.
