Leonard Rock is an outer-exposed pinnacle off Port McNeill, British Columbia, rising over rocky bottom through depths of 5 to 75 feet. The structure holds lingcod, which peak from February through March, again in June and July, and once more from August into September, alongside Pacific halibut through the May to August window and a mix of canary, china, and copper rockfish that stack up on the rock from June to September. Chinook and coho salmon move through the same water on the summer tides, with Chinook peaking May through August and coho running May into September. Lingcod and copper rockfish respond to jigging with metal jigs, leadhead jigs, and swimbaits worked close to the pinnacle, while halibut come on drift jigging over the surrounding bottom with leadhead jigs and salmon belly. Salmon are worked higher in the column, with trolling spoons, whole herring, flashers, and hootchies covering both Chinook and coho as they pass the exposed rock.
