Owen Point sits off Port Renfrew on British Columbia's outer coast, an exposed rocky drop-off falling through depths of 260 to 660 feet. Chinook Salmon run here from May through September and Coho follow from June through September, both taken by trolling anchovy, herring, spoons, or hootchies across the structure. The rocky bottom holds Lingcod from May to August and Black Rockfish from March through September, which respond to jigging with metal jigs, leadhead jigs, or soft plastic swimbaits worked near the seabed. Pacific Halibut move through the deeper water from March to August, reached by drift jigging with heavy leadhead jigs, herring, or octopus along the drop. The exposed outer position and steep contour concentrate fish where the rock face meets moving current.
