Heath Islet sits off Qualicum Beach, British Columbia, an outer-exposed rock drop-off where the bottom falls from roughly 30 to 150 feet. The structure holds a steady population of Copper, Canary, China Rockfish, and Pacific Ocean Perch, while Lingcod move onto the rock through their winter peak from January to March. Chinook Salmon run strongest from July to September and Coho from June to October, both taken by trolling anchovy, herring, spoons, or hootchies along the edge, with mooching cut-plug herring as a secondary approach. Pacific Halibut work the deeper flats from March to August, targeted by drift fishing whole herring, salmon bellies, or octopus over the sand between rock. For Lingcod, jigging metal jigs and swimbaits along the drop-off covers the productive 30- to 150-foot band.
