STRUCTURE

Jesse Island is a rock-bottom drop-off near Sayward, British Columbia, where the seafloor falls from roughly 5 down to 160 feet across a mid-exposure edge. The structure holds Chinook Salmon through their May–August peak and Coho Salmon from June into October, both taken by trolling anchovy, herring, spoons, and hootchies along the contour. Pacific Halibut work the deeper flats at the base of the drop from April through August, where drift jigging with leadhead jigs, metal jigs, and soft plastic swimbaits covers the bottom effectively. Lingcod stack on the rock through the late-winter window of February–April and again in August and September, responding to metal jigs, swimbaits, and leadhead jigs worked close to structure. Pacific Cod, several rockfish species including canary, yellowtail, and copper, and Sablefish round out the bottom fishery across the same depth range.
