Yorke Island sits in the inner protected waters near Sayward, British Columbia, where a rock bottom drops off sharply through depths ranging from the surface to 275 feet. Chinook Salmon move through from May to August and Coho Salmon follow from June to October, with both species targeted by trolling anchovy, herring, hootchies, and spoons along the drop-off edge. Lingcod hold tight to the rock structure and peak from February to April and again in August and September, taken by jigging metal jigs, swimbaits, and leadhead jigs. Pacific Halibut occupy the deeper water from April to August, where drift jigging leadhead jigs, metal jigs, and soft plastic swimbaits works over the bottom. Pacific Cod, Darkblotched Rockfish, and Sablefish round out the mix along the same rocky slope.
