Fortune Channel Hump is a rocky pinnacle on the outer exposed coast off Tofino, rising through water that runs from 80 to 425 feet. The structure holds Pacific Halibut, which peak from March through June, alongside Lingcod that come on strong from May through August. Chinook Salmon share the same May-through-August window, while Coho build through the summer and hold into October, and the rock also supports Canary, Darkblotched, and Quillback Rockfish along with Pacific Cod. Halibut respond to drift jigging with leadhead jigs and soft plastics, metal jigs, or salmon bellies worked across the pinnacle, with whole herring or salmon heads fished on the bottom as a backup. Lingcod hold tight to the rock and take metal jigs, soft plastic swimbaits, and leadhead jigs, while salmon are worked over the same ground by trolling anchovy, herring, hootchies, or spoons.
