Hansen Island sits in the outer-exposed waters off Tofino, British Columbia, where a rock drop-off falls through depths of roughly 330 to 1310 feet. The structure holds Lingcod, which peak from May through August, alongside Pacific Halibut in their March-to-June window and Copper Rockfish that stay active from February into October. Anglers work the rock with jigging for Lingcod and Copper Rockfish, using metal jigs, leadhead jigs, and soft plastic swimbaits, while drift jigging with leadhead jigs and salmon bellies covers the halibut over the deeper edges. Chinook Salmon run May through August and Coho build from June into October, both taken by trolling anchovy, herring, hootchies, and trolling spoons through the water column above the drop. The steep contour and exposed position concentrate fish along the rock face, making depth control the key to reaching each species.
