David Island is an outer-exposed rock pinnacle off Ucluelet, British Columbia, rising through a water column that runs from roughly 10 to 160 feet. The structure holds Chinook Salmon from May through August and Coho Salmon from May into September, with trolling anchovy, herring, hootchies, and spoons working the upper water while mooching cut-plug herring covers the same fish. Pacific Halibut concentrate over the rock between April and August and respond to drift jigging with leadhead jigs and soft plastics or bottom bait fishing with salmon heads and octopus. Lingcod peak early in the season from March through May and take metal jigs and swimbaits worked close to the pinnacle, alongside Black Rockfish that stack up from May through September on jigs and soft plastic swimbaits. The exposed position and hard bottom concentrate baitfish and predators across a wide depth range, making it a productive multi-species mark through the warmer months.
