Pilling Rock is an exposed rock pinnacle off Winter Harbour, British Columbia, rising through waters that run from the surface down to about 40 feet. The structure holds Lingcod, which peak from February through April and again June through August, alongside Silvergray Rockfish, Quillback Rockfish, and Pacific Cod that relate to the rocky bottom. Anglers work the pinnacle for Lingcod with metal jigs, leadhead jigs and soft plastics, or swimbaits, and supplement with whole herring, live greenling, or squid on bait. Chinook Salmon move through from April to August and Coho from May to September, both taken by trolling anchovy, herring, hoochies, or trolling spoons across the exposed water. Pacific Halibut work the area from May through August, with drift jigging over the rock using leadhead jigs, swimbaits, or metal jigs.
