Mile Rocks Hump is a rocky pinnacle rising from the outer, exposed waters off Bodega Bay, holding structure across depths of roughly 50 to 70 feet. The rock draws a mixed rockfish population—Copper, Black, and Blue Rockfish—alongside Cabezon and California Sheephead, with Lingcod concentrating over the high points from July through February. Anglers work the pinnacle for Lingcod by jigging metal jigs, swimbaits, and leadhead jigs across the rock, backing that up with live bait such as live rockfish, live sardines, or squid. Chinook Salmon move through from April to August and Coho from June to November, both taken by trolling anchovies, spoons, hoochies, and flashers, or by mooching anchovies and herring. The exposed outer position keeps the pinnacle in play for fish that hold tight to the rock and for salmon passing above it.
