About Northwest Cape
Northwest Cape is an outer-exposed rocky drop-off off Bodega Bay, California, where the bottom falls from roughly 260 to 660 feet along broken structure. Chinook Salmon run strong from April through August and Coho Salmon peak from June into November, both worked by trolling anchovies, spoons, hoochies, and flashers through the upper water column, with mooching anchovies or herring on banana weights as a slower alternative. Lingcod hold tight to the rock from July through February and respond to metal jigs, swimbaits, and leadhead jigs, or live rockfish and squid dropped into the structure. Aggregate rockfish stack over the same reef from May through October, taken on squid, shrimp flies, and cut bait or by jigging along the ledges. California Halibut show over the shallower margins from April through August, best targeted by drifting live anchovies and shiner perch across the seafloor.
