Castle Rock Hump is an outer-exposed rocky pinnacle off Crescent City, rising through water 15 to 40 feet deep. The structure holds lingcod, which peak from February through March and again from August through October, alongside aggregate rockfish that concentrate here from May through September. Chinook salmon move through the area from April into September, adding a seasonal surface fishery over the same ground. Anglers work the pinnacle for lingcod by jigging metal jigs and swimbaits or dropping live rockfish and squid, while rockfish come off the rock on bottom-fished shrimp flies, squid strips, and metal jigs. Chinook are targeted by trolling anchovies, herring, and spoons across the exposed edges of the structure.
