False Klamath Cove Hump is a rocky pinnacle off Crescent City, rising through 20 to 35 feet of water in an outer, exposed position. The structure holds lingcod, which peak from February through March and again from August through October, alongside aggregate rockfish that concentrate here from May through September. Chinook salmon move through the area from April into September, with cabezon and both Pacific halibut and coho rounding out the mix. Anglers work the rock with metal jigs, swimbaits, and leadhead jigs for lingcod, or drop shrimp flies, squid strips, and metal jigs to the bottom for rockfish. Passing Chinook respond to trolled anchovies, herring, spoons, and hoochies over and around the pinnacle.
