Midway Point Hump is a rocky pinnacle rising from the outer exposed waters off Crescent City, holding structure in the 20 to 40 foot range. Chinook Salmon move through in numbers from April to September, with Coho Salmon adding to the summer window, while Lingcod peak in February and March and again from August to October. The rock also supports Black Rockfish, strongest in March and from May to August, alongside Blue Rockfish, Copper Rockfish, Canary Rockfish, and Kelp Greenling. Trolling anchovies, herring, spoons, or hoochies covers the salmon over the pinnacle, and mooching whole anchovies or cut herring works the same water. For Lingcod, jigging metal jigs, swimbaits, and leadhead jigs works the rock directly, while bait fishing shrimp flies, squid strips, or anchovies takes the Blue Rockfish holding tight to structure.
