The Wilson Rock Hump is a rocky pinnacle sitting in 20 to 35 feet of water off Crescent City, its exposed outer position drawing fish to the hard structure. Lingcod hold on the rock through their peak windows in February and March and again from August into October, while Black Rockfish stack up around the pinnacle in March and from May through August. Blue Rockfish follow a similar spring and summer pattern, peaking in March and April and again from June through August, and Chinook Salmon move through the outer water from April into September. Anglers work jigs and swimbaits over the pinnacle for lingcod and black rockfish, while bait fishing with shrimp flies, squid strips, or anchovies takes blue rockfish near the same structure. For salmon, trolling anchovies, herring, spoons, or hoochies covers the exposed water above the hump.
