About Sister Rocks
Sister Rocks is an exposed rocky drop-off off Crescent City, California, where the bottom falls through 20 to 40 feet of water along the outer coast. Chinook Salmon move through from April to September, with Coho Salmon and Pacific Halibut adding to the summer mix, while Lingcod hold on the rock in February and March and again from August to October. The reef supports a steady rockfish population, including Black Rockfish peaking in March and from May to August, Blue Rockfish in March and April and again June to August, plus Canary and Copper Rockfish. Anglers troll anchovies, herring, and spoons for Chinook over the drop-off, or switch to mooching whole anchovies and cut herring closer to the structure. Over the rock, jigging metal jigs and swimbaits takes Lingcod and Black Rockfish, while bait fishing shrimp flies and squid strips works the Blue Rockfish holding tight to the reef.
