About White Rock
White Rock sits off Crescent City, California, an outer-exposed rocky drop-off falling through depths of 60 to 300 feet. Chinook Salmon run the strongest here from April through September, worked by trolling anchovies, herring, spoons, or hoochies, with mooching whole anchovies or cut herring as a supporting approach. The rock structure holds Lingcod, which peak from February to March and again August through October, taken by jigging metal jigs, swimbaits, and leadhead jigs, or on live rockfish, sanddabs, and squid. Black Rockfish concentrate over the same reef from March and May through August, responding to jigging and swimbaits along the drop, while Blue Rockfish peak March through April and June through August and take shrimp flies, squid strips, and anchovies on bait. The steep rock edge and depth range also support Coho Salmon, Pacific Halibut, Pacific Cod through the November-to-January window, and Wolf Eel.
