About Centissima Reef
Centissima Reef is an outer-exposed sand flat off San Francisco, sitting in 20 to 45 feet of water where the open coast meets the mouth of the bay. Chinook Salmon run through the area from April to September, while California Halibut hold over the sand from April to August and Lingcod feed in pulses from February to March, again from August to October, and into December. The flat also draws Coho Salmon, Leopard Shark, English Sole, and Pacific Herring across the season. Anglers work Chinook by trolling whole anchovy, spoons, hoochies, and flashers across the exposed water, then drift the sand for Halibut with live anchovies, live shiner perch, or midshipman. For Lingcod, jigging metal jigs, swimbaits, and leadhead jigs over the bottom matches the depth and structure here.
