About Peninsula Point
Peninsula Point is an outer-exposed rock drop-off off San Francisco, where the bottom falls through roughly 80 to 200 feet of water and holds structure that concentrates both pelagic and bottom species. Chinook Salmon move through from April to September and respond to trolling with whole anchovy, spoons, hoochies, and flashers, with mooching a whole anchovy or sardine as a supporting approach over the same depths. California Halibut hold here from April to August and come to drift fishing with live anchovies, live shiner perch, or midshipman along the sand-and-rock margins. The rocky drop-off supports Lingcod on its cool-season and fall peaks and Black Rockfish from May to August, both worked with metal jigs, swimbaits, and leadhead jigs, while Blue Rockfish run April to September and take shrimp fly rigs and squid strips. Working jigs and baits close to the rock at these depths keeps offerings in the strike zone as fish stack against the structure.
