About Bodwitch Point
Bodwitch Point is an outer, exposed drop-off off Fort Myers in the Charlotte Harbor region of Florida's Gulf state waters, where mixed bottom falls away through depths of 260 to 660 feet. Sheepshead lead the cool-season fishery from November through March, Spotted Seatrout peak in March and April, and Common Snook follow from April through June. Gray Snapper take over from May through August, Red Drum peak from August through October, and Spanish Mackerel also work the area. Bottom fishing with live shrimp, fiddler crabs, or sand fleas targets Sheepshead along the mixed structure, while Gray Snapper respond to live pilchards, cut bait, and squid fished tight to the edge. Jigging with jig heads and soft plastics covers the steeper sections of the drop-off for snapper, drum, and snook, and live pilchards and pinfish draw strikes from Red Drum and Common Snook through their summer and fall windows.
