About Bokeelia Reef (B)
Bokeelia Reef (B) is an artificial reef in the Florida Gulf state waters of the Charlotte Harbor region, off the northern tip of Pine Island near Fort Myers. The structure holds Gray Snapper from May through August, while Spotted Seatrout and Spanish Mackerel peak in March and April, with mackerel returning from September to November. Common Snook run strongest from April to June, Red Drum from August to October, and Sheepshead crowd the reef from November through March. Bottom fishing with live shrimp, fiddler crabs, or sand fleas tight to the structure targets Sheepshead and Gray Snapper, and live bait fishing with live pilchards or pinfish draws Snook and Red Drum off the reef edges. Spanish Mackerel respond to casting small spoons and jigs over the reef or chumming with cut bait to pull schools up from the structure.
