About Box Point
Box Point is an outer, exposed sand drop-off near Fort Myers in the Charlotte Harbor region of Florida's Gulf state waters, with depths falling from 15 to 45 feet. Sheepshead peak from November through March, and Spotted Seatrout follow in March and April. Common Snook take over from April through June, Gray Snapper hold from May through August, and Red Drum peak from August through October, with Spanish Mackerel also working the area. Bottom fishing with live shrimp, fiddler crabs, or sand fleas along the edge of the drop-off produces Sheepshead through the cooler months, and the same approach with live pilchards or cut bait targets Gray Snapper in summer. For Red Drum and Snook, live bait fishing with pilchards, pinfish, or shrimp works the transition between the shallow sand and the deeper water below.
