About Cape Haze (B) Reef
Cape Haze (B) Reef is an artificial reef in the Charlotte Harbor Region of Florida's Gulf state waters, west of Fort Myers. The structure holds sheepshead from November through March, when bottom fishing with live shrimp, fiddler crabs, sand fleas, or oysters works tight to the reef. Gray snapper take over from May through August and respond to bottom fishing with live pilchards, cut bait, or squid, while red drum move through from August to October and fall to live pinfish, live shrimp, or cut mullet. Spring brings spotted seatrout in March and April and common snook from April through June. Spanish mackerel arrive in two runs, March to April and September to November, and anglers reach them by casting small spoons, jigs, plugs, and soft plastics or by chumming with live shiners and cut bait.
