About Cattle Dock Point
Cattle Dock Point is an outer, exposed drop-off over sand bottom off Fort Myers, Florida, within the Charlotte Harbor Region of the Gulf state waters. Sheepshead lead the cool-season run from November through March, Spotted Seatrout peak in March and April, Common Snook follow from April through June, Gray Snapper hold from May through August, and Red Drum take over from August through October, with Spanish Mackerel also present. The drop-off runs from 260 to 660 feet, and bottom fishing along the sand edge with live shrimp, fiddler crabs, or sand fleas targets Sheepshead, while live pilchards, cut bait, and squid work for Gray Snapper. Live bait fishing with live pilchards, live pinfish, and live shrimp covers both Red Drum and Common Snook. Jigging with bucktail jigs or jig heads with soft plastics offers a second approach for snook and snapper along the slope.
