About Danger Reef
Danger Reef is an artificial reef in the Florida Gulf state waters of the Charlotte Harbor Region off Fort Myers, Florida. The structure holds Gray Snapper that peak from May through August, Sheepshead from November through March, and Common Snook from April through June. Red Drum push onto the reef from August through October, while Spotted Seatrout and Spanish Mackerel both peak in March and April, with mackerel returning from September through November. Bottom fishing with live shrimp, live pilchards, or squid tight to the structure targets snapper. Fiddler crabs and sand fleas take Sheepshead working the reef. Spanish Mackerel moving over the reef respond to small spoons and jigs on a cast. Red Drum and Snook take live pinfish and live pilchards fished around the structure.
