About E-F (Jaycees) Reef
E-F (Jaycees) Reef is an artificial reef in the Florida Gulf state waters of the Charlotte Harbor Region, off the coast from Fort Myers. Sheepshead stack around the structure from November through March, and anglers target them with bottom fishing using live shrimp, fiddler crabs, sand fleas, or oysters, or with jigheads tipped with shrimp or fiddler crabs. Gray snapper take over from May through August and respond to bottom fishing with live shrimp, live pilchards, cut bait, or squid dropped tight to the reef. Spanish mackerel move through in March and April and again from September through November, when casting small spoons, jigs, plugs, and soft plastics over the reef draws strikes, and chumming with live shiners, cut bait, or frozen chum holds schools near the boat. The reef also holds gag grouper, king mackerel, and cobia.
