About Jug Creek Point Shoal
Jug Creek Point Shoal is an exposed sand flat on the outer edge of the Charlotte Harbor region near Fort Myers, Florida, with depths running 5 to 10 feet. Red Drum peak here from August through October, while Spotted Seatrout move across the shoal in March and April. Common Snook reach their peak from April through June, and Sheepshead take over from November through March. Live bait fishing with live pilchards, live pinfish, or live shrimp accounts for most of the Red Drum and Common Snook on the open sand. Anglers working the shoal for Spotted Seatrout favor drifting with soft plastic jerkbaits or a popping cork with shrimp, and bottom fishing with fiddler crabs and sand fleas produces Sheepshead through the cooler months.
