About Point Ybel
Point Ybel is an outer, exposed drop-off off Fort Myers in the Charlotte Harbor Region of Florida's Gulf state waters, where a sand bottom falls away through depths of 260 to 660 feet. Sheepshead peak from November through March, and anglers work them with bottom fishing rigs baited with live shrimp, fiddler crabs, sand fleas, or oysters. Gray Snapper take over from May through August and respond to live pilchards, cut bait, and squid fished tight to the edge of the drop. Spotted Seatrout peak in March and April and Common Snook from April through June, while Red Drum arrive in force from August through October and hit live pinfish, live pilchards, and cut mullet. Spanish Mackerel round out the species list along this exposed sand ledge.
