About Reckems Point
Reckems Point is an exposed sand-bottom drop-off in the Charlotte Harbor region near Fort Myers, where the bottom falls from 15 to 45 feet along the outer edge. Sheepshead lead the winter fishery from November through March, Spotted Seatrout peak in March and April, and Common Snook take over from April through June. Gray Snapper hold along the ledge from May through August, Red Drum push through from August to October, and Spanish Mackerel also work the area. Bottom fishing with live shrimp, fiddler crabs, or sand fleas along the deeper edge of the drop-off targets Sheepshead and Gray Snapper. For Red Drum and Snook, anglers rely on live bait fishing with live pilchards or live pinfish worked along the slope where the sand breaks from shallow to deep water.
