About Redfish Pass Reef
Redfish Pass Reef is an artificial reef in the Florida Gulf state waters of the Charlotte Harbor Region off Fort Myers. Sheepshead hold tight to the structure from November through March, and bottom fishing with live shrimp, fiddler crabs, sand fleas, or oysters puts baits directly into the reef where they feed. Gray Snapper take over from May through August, responding to bottom fishing with live shrimp, live pilchards, cut bait, or squid, along with live bait fishing using pinfish. Spanish Mackerel move through in March–April and again September–November, when casting small spoons, jigs, plugs, and soft plastics over the reef draws strikes and chumming with live shiners or frozen chum holds schools nearby. Gag Grouper, King Mackerel, and Cobia round out the species list on this structure.
