About Sanibel Lighthouse
Sanibel Lighthouse is an exposed sand drop-off near Fort Myers, where the bottom falls away in 5 to 15 feet of water within Florida's Charlotte Harbor region. Sheepshead anchor the cooler months from November through March, while Spotted Seatrout peak in March and April and Common Snook take over from April through June. Gray Snapper hold along the ledge from May through August, and Red Drum push through from August into October, with Spanish Mackerel also among the species working this edge. Bottom fishing with live shrimp, fiddler crabs, or sand fleas tight to the drop-off targets Sheepshead and Gray Snapper. Live bait fishing with live pilchards, live pinfish, or live shrimp along the sand edge draws Common Snook and Red Drum.
