About Underhill Point
Underhill Point is a sand-bottom flat in Florida's Charlotte Harbor region near Fort Myers, with mid exposure and depths running 15 to 35 feet. Sheepshead anchor the cooler months from November through March, Spotted Seatrout peak in March and April, Common Snook follow from April through June, and Gray Snapper peak from May through August. Red Drum take over from August into October, and Spanish Mackerel round out the species mix. Bottom fishing with live shrimp works the sand for both Sheepshead and Gray Snapper across the full depth range, with fiddler crabs and sand fleas adding options for Sheepshead. Live bait fishing with live pilchards or live pinfish draws Red Drum and Common Snook, and soft plastic jerkbaits and paddle tail swimbaits serve as artificial alternatives for both.
