About Arsenic Bank
Arsenic Bank is an outer, exposed sand flat off Islamorada in the Florida Keys State Waters Southwest Region, with water running 10 to 15 feet deep over open sand bottom. Bonefish peak here from March through May and again in September and October, while permit and tarpon share a spring window, with permit strongest from March to May and tarpon running March through June. Anglers working the clean sand target bonefish by sight fishing with spinning tackle and live shrimp, bucktail jigs, or soft plastic shrimp, and they sight cast to permit with live crabs, crab flies, or soft plastic crabs. Tarpon respond to live bait fishing with live mullet, live pinfish, or live crabs, and red drum also cruise the flat. Through the cooler months, great barracuda take over from December to February, and anglers sight cast tube lures, topwater plugs, and jerkbaits to fish holding over the open bottom.
