About Bibb Reef
Bibb Reef is an artificial reef in the federal Atlantic waters off the Florida Keys, reached from Islamorada. Dorado peak from March through July, and mutton snapper run strongest from March through June, while black grouper take over as the primary bottom target from November through February. King mackerel, wahoo, and greater amberjack round out the species that work the structure and the surrounding water column. Bottom fishing over the reef with live pinfish, live grunts, live ballyhoo, or cut bait targets grouper and mutton snapper, and bucktail jigs work for both species. Around the reef, trolling rigged ballyhoo and skirted ballyhoo covers ground for dorado, and live pilchards drifted nearby draw fish that hold close.
