About Islamorada Reef
Islamorada Reef is an artificial reef in federal Atlantic waters off the Florida Keys near Islamorada, Florida. Dorado peak from March through July and Mutton Snapper from March through June, while Black Grouper peak from November through February. Mutton Snapper and Black Grouper key on the reef structure, where bottom fishing with live ballyhoo, cut ballyhoo, or live pinfish puts baits close to cover. Dorado respond to trolling with rigged and skirted ballyhoo, and to live bait drifting with live pilchards and live goggle eyes. King Mackerel, Wahoo, and Greater Amberjack round out the species mix at the reef.
