About Twin Key Bank
Twin Key Bank is an exposed sand flat off Islamorada, Florida, lying in 5 to 10 feet of water within the Florida Keys State Waters Southwest Region. Bonefish peak here from March through May and again in September and October, while permit run strongest from March through May and tarpon from March through June. Sight fishing with spinning tackle is the main approach for bonefish, working live shrimp, bucktail jigs, and soft plastic shrimp across the open sand, and permit fall to sight casting with live crabs, crab flies, and soft plastic crabs. Tarpon respond to live bait fishing with live mullet, live pinfish, and live crabs along the bank. Great barracuda take over in winter, peaking December through February, when tube lures, topwater plugs, and jerkbaits cast over the sand draw strikes, and red drum also patrol the flat.
