About Adolphus Busch Sr Reef
Adolphus Busch Sr Reef is an artificial reef in the Federal Atlantic Waters off the Florida Keys, south of Marathon, where the man-made structure draws both bottom dwellers and open-water pelagics. Black Grouper hold tight to the reef in their peak window from December through February, and Mutton Snapper take over the bottom bite from April through June, with Greater Amberjack also patrolling the structure. Bottom fishing with live pinfish, live grunts, or cut bait works the grouper, while mutton snapper respond to live pilchards, ballyhoo plugs, and cut bait fished on the bottom or on a flat line. Above the reef, Dorado peak from March through July and fall to trolled rigged ballyhoo, skirted trolling lures, and feathers. King Mackerel and Wahoo round out the pelagic lineup over the structure.
