About Doctors Pass
Doctors Pass is a protected sand-bottom corridor in Naples, Florida, linking Moorings Bay to the Gulf with depths running 10 to 15 feet. Common Snook peak here from April through July, and Tarpon move through from March to August, both responding to live bait fishing with live pilchards, live pinfish, or live mullet drifted along the channel. Gray Snapper peak from May through July and Sheepshead from January through March, and bottom fishing with live shrimp works for both, with fiddler crabs and sand fleas adding options for Sheepshead. Spanish Mackerel arrive in March and April and again from September through November, when casting small spoons and jigs through moving water connects with feeding schools. Red Drum round out the fall from September into October, taking live shrimp and cut mullet worked along the sandy edges of the pass.
