About Foote Family Reef

Foote Family Reef is an artificial reef in federal Gulf waters off Naples, Florida, at 26.0208, -82.1091. The structure holds Gag Grouper, Red Grouper, Red Snapper, Gray Snapper, Greater Amberjack, and King Mackerel. Gag Grouper peak from October through December, when anglers work the reef with bottom fishing rigs baited with live pinfish, live grunts, live sardines, or cut bait. Trolling deep-diving plugs or jigging bucktail jigs, metal jigs, and soft plastic swimbaits also draws gags off the structure. Gray Snapper peak from May through July and respond to bottom fishing with live shrimp, live pilchards, squid, or cut bait, especially when frozen chum blocks or cut sardines pull them up from the reef.
