About Gordon Pass
Gordon Pass is a sand-bottomed inlet corridor at the southern edge of Naples, Florida, connecting Naples Bay to the open Gulf with exposed outer waters running 10 to 25 feet deep. Common Snook peak from April through July and Tarpon from March through August, both drawn to the pass where tidal flow concentrates baitfish along the channel. Live bait fishing with live pilchards, live pinfish, or live mullet is the dominant approach for both species, while sight casting with swimbaits and soft plastic jerkbaits targets rolling Tarpon. Spanish Mackerel move through in March–April and again from September to November, taking small spoons and jigs cast into feeding schools, and Red Drum peak in September and October on live shrimp and cut mullet. Through the cooler months, Sheepshead dominate from January to March on bottom rigs baited with fiddler crabs and sand fleas, followed by Gray Snapper from May to July on live shrimp fished near the sandy bottom.
