About North Point
North Point is an exposed drop-off off Naples, Florida, where mixed bottom falls from 5 to 25 feet along the outer edge of the Southwest Gulf state waters. Sheepshead peak from January through March and Spotted Seatrout from February through April. Common Snook run from April through July and Gray Snapper from May through July. Tarpon hold here from March through August, Spanish Mackerel show in March and April and again from September through November, and Red Drum peak in September and October. The depth change concentrates bottom feeders, so bottom fishing with live shrimp, fiddler crabs, or sand fleas works for Sheepshead and Gray Snapper along the ledge. On the shallower shelf, live bait fishing with live pilchards, pinfish, or live mullet targets Snook, Red Drum, and Tarpon, while casting small spoons and jigs intercepts Spanish Mackerel moving across the exposed edge.
