About Tod Sirod Reef

Tod Sirod Reef is an artificial reef in Federal Gulf Waters off Naples, Florida, where placed structure on the bottom holds a mix of reef fish and pelagic predators. Gag Grouper peak here from October through December, while Gray Snapper hit their stride from May through July, and Red Snapper, Red Grouper, King Mackerel, and Greater Amberjack round out the species list. Bottom fishing with live pinfish, live grunts, or live sardines works the structure for Gag Grouper, and jigging with bucktail jigs, metal jigs, or soft plastic swimbaits covers the water column above the reef. For Gray Snapper, bottom fishing with live shrimp, cut bait, or squid pairs well with chumming using frozen chum blocks or cut sardines to draw fish up off the structure. Trolling deep-diving plugs around the reef's edges offers another approach for Gag Grouper holding near the rubble.
