About Alligator Point Hump
Alligator Point Hump is an exposed rock pinnacle off Panama City, Florida, rising from the outer Panhandle shelf in 45 to 85 feet of water. Gray Snapper hold tight to the rock from May through August, and bottom fishing with live pinfish, live shrimp, cut sardines, or squid works the structure most directly. Spanish Mackerel run the surrounding water from March through October and respond to trolling with small trolling spoons, planers with spoons, feather jigs, and diving plugs along the edges of the hump. Sheepshead stack on the rock from January through March, when bottom fishing with fiddler crabs, sand fleas, or live shrimp targets them near the base of the pinnacle. Red Drum peak from August through October and take cut mullet, cut menhaden, or blue crab halves fished on the bottom, while Common Snook round out the species list.
