About Bunkers Point
Bunkers Point is an exposed rock drop-off off Panama City, Florida, in the Panhandle region of the Gulf state waters, where the bottom falls from 260 to 660 feet. The rocky ledge holds Gray Snapper from May through August, Red Drum from August through October, and Sheepshead from January through March, with Common Snook also on the target list. Spanish Mackerel move through the upper water column from March through October, and trolling small spoons or planers with spoons along the edge covers ground on this open stretch. Over the rock, bottom fishing with live pinfish, live shrimp, or squid targets Gray Snapper, while fiddler crabs and sand fleas fished tight to structure draw Sheepshead in the cooler months. Red Drum respond to cut menhaden, cut mullet, and blue crab halves fished on the bottom along the drop.
