About Davis Point
Davis Point is an outer, exposed sand-bottom drop-off off Panama City, Florida, within the Panhandle Region of Florida's Gulf state waters, where the bottom falls away from 260 to 660 feet. The target list here includes Red Drum, which peak from August through October, Sheepshead from January through March, Gray Snapper from May through August, and Spanish Mackerel across a long March-to-October window, with Common Snook also on the roster. Along the edge of the drop-off, bottom fishing with live pinfish, live shrimp, cut sardines, or squid targets Gray Snapper, while Sheepshead respond to fiddler crabs, sand fleas, and oysters presented on the bottom. Higher in the water column, anglers troll small spoons, feather jigs, and diving plugs for Spanish Mackerel through the warm months. In late summer and fall, cut mullet, cut menhaden, and blue crab halves fished on the bottom target Red Drum.
